How can I create a UAN?

A Universal Account Number (UAN) is a 12-digit unique identification number assigned to an employee contributing to the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) in India. It helps to simplify the EPF account management process and make it more transparent for employees. Here’s how you can create a UAN:

Step 1: Visit the EPFO website Visit the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) website ( and click on the ‘UAN Registration’ link under the ‘Important Links’ section on the right-hand side of the page.

Step 2: Enter your UAN Enter your Universal Account Number (UAN), which you can get from your employer. If you don’t have a UAN yet, you can request one from your employer.

Step 3: Enter your personal details Enter your personal details such as name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, and address.

Step 4: Generate an authorization pin Enter the verification code and click on the ‘Get Authorization Pin’ button. An authorization pin will be generated and sent to your registered mobile number.

Step 5: Submit the authorization pin Enter the authorization pin received on your registered mobile number and click on the ‘Submit’ button.

Step 6: UAN generation Your UAN will be generated, and the same will be sent to your registered mobile number and email ID.

Please note that if you are already a member of the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), you do not need to create a new UAN. Your UAN would have already been generated by the EPFO and provided to you by your employer. You can link your new EPF account with your existing UAN to avoid multiple EPF accounts.
